Web Content Coordinator

Part-Time Position Maximum 28 hours/week

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Manager of Communications and Public Relations, the Web Content Coordinator will serve as the main point of contact for the City of Clarence-Rockland’s website renewal project. The Web Content Coordinator is responsible for ensuring timelines and objectives are met, reviewing and assessing current website content, and coordinating the migration to a new web platform. The Web Content Coordinator will collaborate with internal departments, including Economic Development Department to develop a dedicated microsite, while ensuring that the renewed website meets accessibility, bilingual, and user-experience standards. The coordinator will also liaise with internal teams, external vendors, and other stakeholders to facilitate a smooth communication and successful project implementation. 

Requirements

  • Must have a post-secondary degree in Digital Media Communications, Web Communications or equivalent.
  • Must have one (1) year experience in a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of social media platforms and best practices for content creations.
  • Must have excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professionalism, initiative, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staffs and members of the public.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, in both official languages (English and French).

Administrative Assistant – Office of the Clerk

Position Summary

Reporting to the Clerk, the Administrative Assistant will provide confidential administrative support to the Clerk and the Deputy-Clerk, which includes but is not limited to assisting with the processing of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, assisting with the processing of Lottery Licence Applications, and assisting with the preparation of municipal elections. 

Requirements

Chief Building Official

Full-Time Position 35 hours/week

Position summary

The role of the Chief Building Official is to establish operational policies for the enforcement of the Ontario Building Code for the municipality.  The incumbent is responsible for coordinating and supervising enforcement by the municipality's building inspectors and clerks.  He or she shall exercise the powers and prosecute offences under the authority of the Act and the Building Code and shall exercise the powers and perform the duties in accordance with the standards established by the applicable code of conduct.

Requirements

  • Must have a college or university diploma in architecture or engineering.
  • Must have the Ministry certification (NICB).
  • Must have OBOA training in the following areas:
    • Building Official and the Law;
    • Building services ;
    • Building structure;
    • Complex buildings;
    • Plumbing all buildings. 
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in the role of Chief Building Official.
  • Must be a member of the Ontario Building Official Association.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with all levels of management and staff.
  • Ability to speak and write in both official languages is an asset.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to review plans using applicable codes and regulations.
  • Knowledge of building codes, municipal by-laws and applicable laws.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Ability to make presentations to the public.
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage workload to meet deadlines.                        
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team if required.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Ability to make decisions.

Salary

As per the non-union salary scale: $90,156 to $112,695

Senior Planner (Planner III)

Full-Time Position 35 hours/week

Position summary

Under the direction of the Manager of Development, the Senior Planner responsible for Zoning and Official Plan Amendment as well as Site Plan and Subdivision applications. His role is to ensure the City’s proper development through the application of various Federal, Provincial, County and Local laws and by-laws. The Planner must plan for the present while considering the future needs of the population. The Senior Planner will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or master’s degree in Urban planning or bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (Geography).  

Professional Association: Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) and Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) membership or candidate member. 

  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years of planning experience.
  • Knowledge of municipal operations and the organisational structure. 
  • Knowledge of the development process, Planning Act, Municipal Act, LPAT, planning principles and practices. 
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring the use of analytical and/or interpretation skills. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other staff and/or giving and receiving information outside the organization. Must be able to relay planning information effectively without ambiguity.  
  • Ability to interpret maps, engineering plans, surveys, architectural plans, and drawings. 
  • Effective interpersonal skills, which include conflict resolution skills. 
  • Ability to interpret and apply the policies/regulations contained in the Provincial Policy Statements, the County Official Plan, the City Official Plans, and the Zoning by-law. 
  • Ability to work effectively, independently, and courteously, with the ability to respect confidentiality. 
  • Demonstrated high standard of quality, accuracy, and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work with difficult people/clients. Ability to remain calm.
