Position summary

Under the guidance of the programs coordinator and working cooperatively with the summer camps coordinator, the summer camp lead is responsible for the daily operations of the Summer Day camps, as assigned.  The summer camp lead provides on-site leadership and support to all participants, volunteers, parents, and staff. The summer camp lead is responsible for ensuring the success of the day-to-day operations of the assigned camps and ensuring that all children, volunteers, and staff have a safe and positive program experience.

Day Camp Councillor - Summer 2024

Position summary

Under the responsibility of the Manager of Recreation and Culture, the Day Camp Counselor will assist with the planning and delivery of a high-quality program for children ages 4 to 12. They will help maintain accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation and attendance sheets while supervising campers and ensuring site cleanliness.

Senior Planner (Planner III)

Position summary

Under the direction of the Manager of Development, the Senior Planner responsible for Zoning and Official Plan Amendment as well as Site Plan and Subdivision applications. His role is to ensure the City’s proper development through the application of various Federal, Provincial, County and Local laws and by-laws. The Planner must plan for the present while considering the future needs of the population. The Senior Planner will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or master’s degree in Urban planning or bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (Geography).  

Professional Association: Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) and Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) membership or candidate member. 

  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years of planning experience.
  • Knowledge of municipal operations and the organisational structure. 
  • Knowledge of the development process, Planning Act, Municipal Act, LPAT, planning principles and practices. 
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring the use of analytical and/or interpretation skills. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other staff and/or giving and receiving information outside the organization. Must be able to relay planning information effectively without ambiguity.  
  • Ability to interpret maps, engineering plans, surveys, architectural plans, and drawings. 
  • Effective interpersonal skills, which include conflict resolution skills. 
  • Ability to interpret and apply the policies/regulations contained in the Provincial Policy Statements, the County Official Plan, the City Official Plans, and the Zoning by-law. 
  • Ability to work effectively, independently, and courteously, with the ability to respect confidentiality. 
  • Demonstrated high standard of quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
