Major Watermain Break in Rockland

CLARENCE-ROCKLAND – August 30, 2021 – The Rockland urban area of the municipality has no water this morning due to a major water main break on Du Parc Avenue. This break caused the water tower, located on St-Joseph Street, to empty.

The City of Clarence-Rockland is presently on site to repair the break, and we will give updates as soon as possible. However, it is impossible at the moment to give an estimated time for the repairs.

CLARENCE-ROCKLAND – August 27, 2021 –Municipal Council has appointed Mario Zanth as Mayor of the City of Clarence-Rockland. Mr. Zanth will be sworn in at the September 8th, 2021, Regular Council Meeting and will hold the position of Mayor for the remainder of the term.  

As Mr. Zanth served as Councillor for Ward 2 since 2014, his seat will become vacant. Municipal Council will address the procedures to follow in order to fill the position shortly.

The entire community is in mourning today for Mayor Guy Desjardins, a man who dedicated himself to the City of Clarence-Rockland, and who was a Mayor appreciated by all.

The funeral of Mr. Guy Desjardins will take place on Thursday, July 8, 2021 and will be broadcast on Facebook Live on the page Cité de / City of Clarence-Rockland at 11:00 a.m.

CLARENCE-ROCKLAND – July 3, 2021 – It is with profound sadness and grief that the City of Clarence-Rockland announces that Mayor Guy Desjardins passed away earlier today, after a long illness. Our thoughts and prayers are with his partner Aline, his daughter Tanya, his sons Christian and Jason, and all his family.
