The City of Clarence-Rockland is pleased to offer Women's Ice Hockey. We are currently working on a variety of exciting new offerings for game play and development. 

Registration is now open for the following programs:

Women's Recreational/Intermediate Spring Organized Pick-up 18+ - NOW OPEN

Women's Recreational/Intermediate Organized Pick Up Hockey - FULL

Date: Tuesday evenings, April 2 to May 21, 2024

Time: 9:00 p.m.

Cost: $170+ applicable taxes & online fees per player

Duration: 8 weeks

***Due to the closure of the arena for major repairs May 26th to June 28th, all on-ice programs are shortened.

Location: Clarence-Rockland Arena (8710 County Road 17, Rockland, ON)

*Minimum 18, maximum 22 (including goalies)

  • For women 18+ (players 16+ may be admitted on a case-by-case basis, depending on availability)
  • Level is Recreational/Intermediate - similar to the "Recreational Division" at the Clarence-Rockland Community Tournament.  Intended for women who have played at least some hockey and can hold their own in a game situation, up to retired competitive level players who prefer a more relaxed evening of hockey.
  • 8 games, teams re-mixed each week, bring your own jerseys (one light, one dark)
  • Referee 
  • Registrants will receive more information a few weeks prior to league start date.

Women's Competitive Hockey - Level 1 OPEN - 18+

Location: Clarence Creek Arena (418 Lemay Street, Clarence Creek, ON)

*Maximum 20 players, 2 goalies

  • For women 18+
  • Competitive LEVEL 1 OPEN - intended for women who have played BB or higher and are looking for fast-paced, high intensity gameplay.
  • 20 games, teams re-mixed each week

 Rules and Regulations for Pick Up Hockey - Returning Fall 2024

Below you will find important information regarding the logistics of the league.

Rules and Regulations:

  • No Slap Shots (wind up above the waist) – results in faceoff in defensive zone of offender
  • Body Checking is NOT permitted.
  • Player Changes: Players will be eligible to change at any time during the game.
  • Unless otherwise indicated in the Rules and Regulations, the City of Clarence-Rockland Adult Spring Hockey League rules are based on the current Hockey Canada Rule Book. The rules and regulations stated below either supplement or override the rules found in the aforementioned Hockey Canada rules. Hockey Canada Rule Book: rulebook_casebook_e.pdf (hockeycanada.ca)
  • The City has a zero-tolerance for fighting or abuse (verbal or physical) of officials, program leads, timekeepers or other players on or off the ice.
  • On-ice officials reserve the right to eject any players who do not respect these rules.  In the event of a rejection, the League organizing team will review each case and determine if further actions (warning or league ban) is warranted.
  • Rule Changes/updates: The league reserves the right to make any changes and/or additions to the league rules at any time during the season.

Timing of games

Period Lengths: The game clock shall start counting down from 25 minutes as soon as the Zamboni and rink staff is off the ice and have closed the gate behind them. The second period will start immediately after the first period ends and will count down from 22 minutes. 
Warm-up: There will be a 3-minute warm-up period at the beginning of the first period. Teams will be encouraged to face-off at the 22-minute mark.

Missing a game/spares


Spares must be registered on the spare list (those who have signed waivers).  Participants will be informed of the spare policies prior to the beginning of the season.

 

Facilities / Change rooms

Dressing Rooms: Dressing rooms are available 30 minutes prior to game time and are to be cleared within twenty minutes of completion of each game. Please check the board each week to see which room you are in.

Please respect other users of the facilities and leave the room in the condition you found it. IF there is an issue with damage and/or cleanliness, please contact the arena facility attendants immediately.

Women's Recreational Hockey Development Fall/Winter

*maximum 20 players and 2 goalies

  • For women 18+
  • This program is for women who would like to develop their hockey skills in a fun, inviting atmosphere
  • Beginners are welcome!
  • Minimum skill requirement is that participants should be comfortable skating (with hockey skates)
  • 15-20 minutes of skills and drills led by a female hockey coach
  • 30-35 minutes of organized scrimmage game-play
  • Full hockey equipment required 
  • Registrants will receive more information a few weeks prior to league start date.
